Curriculum A Overviews

As a school, we have adopted ‘Snapshots’ which spell out the learning journey of each topic, as well as the key knowledge that students will gain throughout the topic, plus opportunities to demonstrate key skills. Below you will find exemplar ‘Snapshots’ as well as Learning Intention slips to show the sequence of learning.

Curriculum B Overviews

At our school, we believe in creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment where students are empowered to take ownership of their education. By top-loading our timetable, we prioritise core subjects in the morning, ensuring that pupils begin their day with a strong academic foundation. As the day progresses, we offer a Widening Horizons curriculum, designed to give students the freedom to explore their interests and passions. Through choice-led learning, pupils can gain valuable qualifications and hands-on experience in a variety of subjects, including Art, Food and Nutrition, and Sports Coaching. This approach ensures that every student can develop a well-rounded skill set and achieve their personal academic and career aspirations.

In our ‘upper’ school, which includes Years 10 and 11, and those academically able to access Curriculum B in Year 9, follow a sequenced curriculum in key core subjects. Each subject has produced a Curriculum Sequencing and Development Map that codifies the sequence of learning. Each subject has core threads and topics, that are sequenced through progression steps, known as ‘Milestones’. Each Curriculum Document below maps key knowledge, skill & vocabulary against the national curriculum and the teaching of SMSC, British Values & our RAISE values.
